I received my Bachelor's Degree in Family and Community Studies from the University of Delaware in 2006. I graduated from Widener University with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work. I have been working in the field for over ten years. I have experience in the outpatient setting as well as school-based and residential treatment facility setting. With over ten years’ experience in the hospital setting; five of them working with families and victims of trauma, my primary clinical focus is working with adolescents and identity development.
I employ different evidence-based methods when working with youth and teens to defuse tension and increase communication within the family to resolve conflicts and improve function throughout the system. I provide individual, family and group counseling services. I have personal and professional experience working with blended families and providing support for children going through divorce.

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in Mental Health. Previously, I had been a special education teacher for grades k-6 for four years, grades 9-12 for two years, and a special education coordinator for eight years. I have a Masters’ Degree in Mental Health. I completed a two year internship working with adults that had a diagnosis of Schizophrenia and multiple personality disorders. I also provided services to the detention center as part of my internship. I am currently certified in childhood trauma and currently provide services for children and families ages 4-18 years old, as a Mobile Therapist. My style of therapy varies upon the individual and family needs. I use methods that take into account the person’s spirituality, dreams, and family dynamics.
Giannina Figueroa, LPCMH (Mobile Therapist) Bi-Lingual
I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in Mental Health. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany. I went on to receive my Master of Science in Community Counseling from Wilmington University in 2013. For over 13 years, I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. In my early years, I began working with people with severe and persistent mental illness in a group home. While at my time in the group homes, I was also a sexual assault advocate with the local hospitals in the area. I also have over 5 years of experience serving those who are struggling with substance abuse and dependence. I have experience teaching Master's level courses at Wilmington University as well. Throughout my experience I have been certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as well as trained in Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT) and had extensive experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. Apart from English, I am also fluent in Spanish, French, and Italian.
I believe in an eclectic approach to therapy in order to find the therapeutic approach that best meets the individual's needs. After creating a therapeutic rapport I work in collaboration with each client in order to find a treatment that would best work with each individual. It is my goal to work closely with each client in order to guide them to successfully achieve their goals. I am committed to assist in your growth, healing, and self discovery.

Spending 12 years working with children, adolescents, and their families in various settings has helped shape my therapeutic approach. As a Cognitive Behavioral therapist I focus on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and use this approach to help improve the quality of life of children, adolescents, and their families. My areas of specialty include: Depression, ADHD, Autism, Trauma, Behavioral issues, Bipolar disorder, and Juveniles. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University, Master of Education Degree in School Counseling from Wilmington University, a post Master Certificate in Child and Family Counseling, and I am currently pursing a Master of Social Work degree. Training I have participated in are Crisis Intervention Prevention, Psychological First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Case Conceptualization and Treatment plans, and Think First Evidenced Based Interventions and CBITS (Cognitive Behavior Intervention for Trauma in Schools).

I have a diversified background from business development to human resources, along with marketing, management, therapy, research, and coaching. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wesley College in 2007 and continued my education to earn a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University in 2010. I am currently enrolled in the Doctorate (Ed.D.) Program of Organizational Learning, Leadership, and Innovation at Wilmington University, with having successfully defended my dissertation on May 1, 2019 and expected graduation in July 2019. My Specialty Areas include: Leadership & Organizational Development, Employee Engagement, Innovation, Experiential Learning, Organizational On-boarding, Evaluating and Resolving Inquiries, Data Analysis and Application, Anthropology & Ethnography, Employee Motivation, Training & Development, and Collaboration. I am trained in TF-CBT, PCIT, CARES, and Triple P. I work with clients and families in the home, school, and community environments utilizing evidenced based approaches to help clients and families achieve their desired goals.
